LAHORE: A team of the Federal Board of Revenue (Lahore region) raided a known bakery in the city on Wednesday and took entire accounts record into its custody for not paying sales tax in accordance with the annual sale.

According to sources, the monthly sale of the bakery (Khalifa) ranges between Rs5m and Rs6m which is approximately Rs50m to Rs70m per annum. But the bakery owners allegedly used to deposit sales tax by showing Rs8m annual sale.

“Since the team has taken the bakery’s record into custody, the FBR will assess the sale and calculate the actual tax. After doing this, the bakery will be issued a notice to pay the tax calculated according to actual annual sale,” said a source.
