KARACHI: A sparkling century by Azam Khan followed devastating spin bowling from Ashiq Ali and Hassaan Khan as Alamgir Gymkhana trounced Northern Gymkhana to reach the third stage of the KCCA Zone-VI PCB Fazal Mahmood National Club Cricket Championship here on Thursday.

In the second-stage clash at the Lawai Cricket Stadium in Naya Nazimabad, Alamgir Gymkhana dismissed Northern Gymkhana for a modest 192 in 47.2 overs with off-spinner Ashiq claiming four wickets for just 18 runs and slow left-armer Hassaan Khan picking up 4-31.

Ram Ravi scored a fighting 60 featuring four boundaries and a six, while Abdullah Khan striking three sixes and as many fours in making 49.Alamgir Gymkhana made light work of the target by posting 194 for the loss of only Azam’s wicket in 22.1 overs. Azam, the 20-year-old son of former Pakistan captain Moin Khan, was in punishing mood as the young wicket-keeper/batsman slammed 14 fours and hoisted as many as nine sixes during his hurricane 122 from mere 70 deliveries.

Former Pakistan U-19 representative Jaahid Ali struck six boundaries in his unbeaten 51 when the one-sided encounter ended.
