LAHORE: Students from both state-run and private educational institutions marched on The Mall here on Friday to seek free education, restoration of student unions and an end to class-based exploitation.

Belonging to the Government College University, Forman Christian College, Punjab University, Lahore University of Management Sciences and other institutes, the participants — holding red flags and banners inscribed with their demands — started their march from Istanbul Chowk and culminated it at the Charing Cross.

They demanded free education, restoration of student unions, increase in education budget, ending sexual harassment and class-based exploitation.

A street theatre performance highlighting the problems the students are facing at their respective institutions was performed before adopting a resolution vowing to continue the struggle till the fulfillment of their demands.
