ISLAMABAD: Around 4,000 confirmed dengue cases were reported in the federal capital during the last four years but the number has been reduced during the last two years, a document submitted in the National Assembly on Tuesday revealed.
The Ministry of National Health Services while replying to a question asked by MNA Musarrat Rafique Mahesar, informed the house that as many as 526 dengue cases were reported in 2015 but in 2016 the number increased to 2,813.
The written reply claims that 296 and 295 dengue cases were reported in 2017 and 2018.
Media coordinator of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences Dr Waseem Khawaja while talking to Dawn said majority of dengue patients didn’t come to the hospital for treatment as most of them are not aware of their disease and its symptoms go away on their own.
“People should not leave fresh water in the house uncovered because the dengue mosquito lays eggs in fresh water,” he said.
