Ko ko korina

THOSE who witnessed the golden era of Pakistani cinema probably remember the great trio of Ahmed Rushdi, Sohail Rana and Waheed Murad.

These three together gave us unforgettable and melodious songs which are still popular and part of our heritage.

In 1967 Sohail Rana came up with a hit musical movie Arman which got a full house success all over the country. He composed the country’s first pop-song for this movie — ‘Ko Ko Korina’ which was sung by Ahmed Rushdi and picturised on Waheed Murad.

The latest version of this historical song sung by Momina Mustehsan and Ahad Raza Mir has raised a hue and cry among music lovers and former actors who are calling this version ‘horrendous’.

For the last 10 years Coke Studio has been a trademark of Pakistani music and has given life to many old melodies with a fusion of modern music. But this time they were not up to the mark. Another version of ‘Ko Ko Korina’was sung by Alamgir in late 70s which also became popular. Adil Murad, son of Waheed Murad, has apparently also apologised for allowing Coke Studio to remake the song.
