LAHORE A session on, ‘Body Becoming Performance Art as Medium and Art Form’, was held at Olomopolo, New Muslim Town, on Saturday.

It was organised by the House, a collaborative initiative in bringing attention to the medium of performance art in Pakistan. The panelists in the session moderated by Musa Hassan were Natasha Jozi, Quddus Mirza, Bilal Tanweer and Ryan Van Winkle.

Jozi, the moving spirit behind House and a visual thinker, artist and writer, said that the session had been held to recap and examine the performances held at Olomopolo on Oct 6, 2018 under the title ‘Body Becoming’. The event, she added, was a part of a culmination of the discourse House had been working to cultivate and develop over the last year.

Quddus Mirza, art critic and head of Fine Arts Department of the National College of Arts, held the Oct 6 performances in high esteem.

He said the execution of the performances was excellent by the artistes and it had a great undercurrent narrative.

To novelist Bilal Tanweer, the show was stunning and the transformation of domestic space was fabulous.

Ryan Van Winkle, a poet and a live artiste, praised the use of space and problem solving while going through the constraints in performance art.
