TIMERGARA: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Sunday reiterated his resolve that Diamer-Bhasha dam would be built at any cost, adding that construction of dams was the need of the hour.

Talking to journalists at Chakdara Fishing Hut during his brief stay there, the CJP said he wanted to serve people.

Justice Nisar, who was on his way to Swat from Chitral, praised the people for raising funds for the construction of dams. No one could match the spirit of Pakistanis who donated billions of rupees for building dams, he said, adding that Bhasha dam was essential for development and prosperity of Pakistan. “I am grateful to those who donated for the dam.”

When asked about speedy trial of cases pending in courts, the CJP said the procedure had been expedited and people would soon see its result. A journalist invited the CJP’s attention to the construction of Sanam dam in Adenzai Lower Dir and informed him that the project had been tendered but construction work was yet to start.
