Atif Mian

Published September 13, 2018

PRIME Minister Khan had promised during his election campaign that all non-Muslims would be treated justly and he would ensure that all of them felt proud to be citizens of this fair republic.

Is the removal of Atif Mian from the Economic Advisory Council the way to make the minority community proud? What kind of message is Pakistan sending to the entire world? It is sad that the prime minister has given in to the extremists. He should follow in the footsteps of our founder who said: “You may belong to any religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the state.”

Pakistan would have definitely benefited from the expertise of Atif Mian as he is among the top 25 economists of the world. This country will never progress if we judge a person not on his qualification and ability but on his faith.
