KARACHI: A ‘hitman’ allegedly associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London was killed in a “shootout with police” in Ittehad Town on Tuesday just a month after he was released from prison on bail, a senior official said.

He added that an Ittehad Town police mobile was busy in routine snap checking near Baldia Cottage area when they spotted suspicious motorcyclists and asked them to stop.

“Instead they fired shots at the police and tried to speed away,” said SSP west Dr Mohammad Rizwan. “The firing from the suspects led to reaction from the police, which retaliated and as a result one of the suspects died in the exchange of gunfire while his aide managed to run away. The deceased was later identified as Zohaib, alias WC, who was associated with the MQM-London.”
