LAHORE: Punjab Governor Rafiq Rajwana on Wednesday resigned from his office and wished to resume his legal practice.
Mr Rajwana, a lawyer by profession from Multan, made the announcement of his resignation during a surprise visit to the Lahore High Court Bar Association. Talking to the media at the bar office, Mr Rajwana said he had sent his resignation to President Mamnoon Hussain.
Set to resume his practice as a lawyer
Speaking to the bar members, Mr Rajwana said he had fulfilled his duties under the Constitution and tried his best to meet the trust of his leadership. He said that he had returned home (the bar) and would soon start his legal practice. Mr Rajwana said he played his role in solving the problems of the legal fraternity and kept the door of his office open for everyone.
Later in the evening, Mr Rajwana held a farewell meeting with the staff of the Governor House, vacated the official residence and shifted to his private home. Mr Rajwana was appointed governor in May 2015.
