SMC, IOHBMSS bag titles in JSMU event

KARACHI: Sindh Medical College boys team won the cricket and futsal titles, Institute of Health & Business Management and Social Sciences (IOHBMSS) clinched the girls cricket title while SMC won the girls futsal title in the Jinnah Sindh Medical University’s (JSMU) annual students’ event ‘Endynamo 3.0’ which concluded here with an impressive prize distribution ceremony in front of a packed crowd at the university campus on Saturday.

Pakistan’s prolific middle-order batsman Asad Shafiq and SMC Principal Professor Ghulam Sarwar Qureshi presented the medals and trophies to the victorious boys teams while ex-captain Wasim Akram’s wife Shaneira Akram feted the girls for their outstanding show in the 15-day event which was held at the PSB National Coaching Centre.

In the boys volleyball boys, Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry (LCMD) emreged as the winners while SMC won the girls volleyball event.

LCMD were the runner up in the futsal boys and girls competitions. In all, 51 competitions were held in the event which were participated in by around 5000 students of JSMU and its affiliated colleges.

Both Asad and Shaneira, while speaking on the occasion, stressed the need for maintaining a healthy balance between co-curricular activities and studies and advised the students to work for raising the flag of Pakistan high in any field they choose to work.

JSMU Vice Chancellor, Professor S M Tariq Rafi congratulated the Chairperson of the Student Council Dr Ghazala Usman for successfully conducting the fortnight-long event and appreciated the efforts of the student council office holders Yaseen, Moiz, Moeed, Javeria and others in this regard.
