SWABI: The local leaders of Awami National Party said that their party’s election campaign was targeted under a well-planned conspiracy to deprive them of an imminent victory in general polls on July 25.

They said that there was an urgent need to educate people about the anti-Pakhtun plan. “Why Pakhtuns are lagging behind in every field? They are economically weak and most of the incidents of terrorism occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa still it could not receive the required funds,” they told this scribe.

Ameer Rehman, ANP district president, said that after Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto family, Biluors rendered tremendous sacrifices for democracy and democratic process. “What has done wrong by Bilours? In fact, their only sin is that they work for the people, advocate democracy and create awareness among people,” he said.

Party’s candidates in Swabi continue election drive without enhancing security

Ishfaq Khan, member of the party central council, said that ANP could not be vanished from the election scene as people were aware of the contribution of its leaders.

The workers of other political parties also said that it was a wrong approach to kill and target someone. They condemned the suicide attack on ANP corner meeting in Peshawar and expressed sympathies with the Bilour family.

“Though I am a supporter of Babar Khan, the PML-N candidate for PK-43, yet I wept when I heard about the assassination of Haroon Bilour,” said Abdul Qayyum, a resident of Maneri Payyan. Fazl Amin, a PPP worker, said that killing of Haroon Bilour was an attack on the entire system and all Pakhtuns.

The ANP candidates for two National Assembly and five provincial assembly seats continued their election campaign on Wednesday and Thursday. They said that they did not enhance their security after the suicide bombing in Peshawar.

Gul Zamin Shah, the ANP candidate for PK-44, said that their party workers were followers of Bacha Khan, who fought against all the odds and emerged victorious while upholding the philosophy of non-violence.

GAIE: The industrialists have demanded of the authorities to link Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate (GAIE) with Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway.

The demand was made in a meeting here on Thursday that was attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zone operation manager Faiz Mohammad Fazi, Swabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Mohammad Zahid Shah, former transport minister of Sindh Akhtar Shah Jadoon and industrialists of Gadoon Estate.

The participants of the meeting said that linkage of Gadoon Estate with the motorway would resolve their various problems. They said that it would make easy the transportation of goods and raw material.
