KARACHI: The Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Monday claimed to have seized a huge quantity of Indian gutka and other goods worth millions of rupees.

The paramilitary force conducted an intelligence-based action at the bus terminus in Yusuf Goth of Baldia Town and seized Indian gutka, areca nuts, cigarettes and foreign drugs, said their spokesperson.

The official added that the gutka, which weighed 66 tonnes, was worth Rs40 million while the areca nut weighed 200 tonnes. He said 2,000 cartons of cigarettes, 1,000 tyres and huge quantity of foreign medicines were also captured. The seized items were handed over to the Customs authorities for further action.

The spokesperson said the Rangers had also seized 5,000kg of gutka on June 13.

Three bike thieves arrested

The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) on Monday claimed to have arrested two brothers among three suspects allegedly involved in stealing around 200 motorbikes from the metropolis, said an ACLC official.

“The police conducted an action near Qalandaria Chowk in North Nazimabad, apprehended three suspects and recovered 10 stolen motorbikes.

“The held suspects were identified as Saleemullah and Tasleemullah, who were brothers, and Mohammad Mushtaq.”
