We had sought your help in knowing more about the kurta-clad gentleman who was photographed handing out books and stationery to children earlier today. As it turns out, he has been identified as Liaquat Mirani, an independent candidate from Larkana, by Samaa TV.

According to the TV channel, Mirani is contesting the July 25 elections for a Sindh Assembly seat from PS-13 (Larkana-IV).

Footage taken by Samaa shows Mirani asking for votes while riding a donkey cart through a bazaar in Larkana (compare seeking votes while travelling in shiny black 4x4s by literally-every-other-candidate)

Mirani, said to be an educated middle-class man from Larkana's Dokri, wants an end to the hegemony of feudal lords, who he says have done nothing for the welfare of the poor man.

"All these waderas who have been elected for the past 50 years have ruined the nation; they have done no development and they seek commissions from contractors in every budget," says Mirani.

While the inspiring candidate appears to resonate with all and sundry in his hometown, he won't have it too easy during the poll. His competition for PS-13 is PPP's Sardar Hizbullah Bughio and Grand Democratic Alliance's Adil Altaf.
