KARACHI: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has announced names of its candidates on 21 seats of the National Assembly and 44 Sindh Assembly seats in the city for July 25 general elections, leadership of the electoral alliance said on Sunday.

They said the MMA had nominated Soomar Burfat for NA-236, Muhammad Islam (NA-237), Muhammad Islam (NA-238), Haleem Ghauri (NA-239), Jamil Khan (NA-240), Saleem Hussain (NA-241), Asadullah Bhutto (NA-242), Osama Razi (NA-243), Zahid Saeed (NA-244), Saifuddin (NA-245), Maulana Noor-ul-Haq (NA-246), Hussain Mehnati (NA-247), Qari Usman (NA-248), Attaullah Shah (NA-249), Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman (NA-250), Laeeq Khan (NA-251), Majeed Khaskheli (NA-252) Munim Zafar (NA-253), Rashid Naseem (NA-254), Mustaqeem Qureshi (NA-255) and Dr Mairaj-ul-Huda for NA-256.

Dr Huda is the provincial chief of the Jamaat-i-Islami and Hafiz Naeem is the city chief.

Similarly, the MMA leadership has announced its candidates for all 44 provincial assembly constituencies.

The candidates are: Hamdullah Haqqani (PS-87), Altaf Patni (PS-88), Mumtaz Sehto (PS-89), Pir Ehsanullah (PS-90), Maulana Ehsanullah (PS-91), Farooq Khalil (PS-92), Taufeeq Uddin (PS-93), Aslam Pervez (PS-94), Ayub Abbasi (PS-95), Rajab Ali (PS-96), Mansoor Feroz (PS-97), Abdul Haq (PS-98), Muhammad Ghayyas (PS-99), Younus Barai (PS-100), Babar Qamar (PS-101), Syed Qutub (PS-102), Junaid Makati (PS-103), Zahoor Jadoon (PS-104), Sarwar Ali (PS-105), Naeem Shah (PS-106), Fazlur Rehman (PS-107), Abdur Rasheed (PS-108), Faisal Ghaffar (PS-109), Abdul Qadir (PS-110), Muhammad Sufyan (PS-111), Naik Amanullah (PS-112), Sajjad Ahmed (PS-113), Qari Usman (PS-114), Naeemur Rehman (PS-115), Umer Sadiq (PS-116), Mudassir Hussain (PS-117), Haider Shah (PS-118), Atta Rabbi (PS-119), Abdur Razzaq (PS-120), Habib Razzaq (PS-121), Muhammad Rizwan (PS-122), Muhammad Yousuf (PS-123), Khalid Siddiqui (PS-124), Abdul Baqi (PS-125), Farooq Naimatullah (PS-126), Siddiq Rathore (PS-127), Wajih Hasan (PS-128), Hafiz Naeemur Rehman (PS-129) and Naseem Siddiqui (PS-130).

An MMA spokesman said they had also finalised the list of candidates on the reserved seats for women.

They are: Umme Atiya, Kausar Nasir, Aziza Anjum, Afshan Naveed, Zakiya Aurangzeb, Perveen Khan and Musfirah Jamal.

Earlier, MMA’s Secretary General Liaquat Baloch said like 2002, the MMA would repeat its better performance in Karachi.
