LAHORE: Amna Imran Khan, a senior officer from Pakistan Administrative Service, will head the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) as its first ever female director general (DG).

The services of Ms Khan, a Grade 20 officer posted as joint secretary (revenue division) Islamabad, had been requisitioned from the federal government by the Punjab government on June 20 for her appointment as the DG.

“On Friday, the Establishment Division placed her services at the disposal of the Punjab government. She will report to the provincial government till Monday and probably take over the charge of the office of LDA DG by Tuesday,” an official told Dawn, requesting anonymity.

He said Ms Khan belonged to 16th Common and was allocated the information group. However, she reappeared in the Central Superior Service examination and succeeded in getting into the PAS after two years. “Now she is considered to be from 18th Common of the CSS,” the official added.

Ms Khan, he said, had been knighted with the Ordre national du Mérite (National Order of Merit) by former French president Nicolas Sarkozy for her distinguished services for strengthening and promoting cooperation between law-enforcement agencies of Pakistan and France.
