SIALKOT: Deputy Commissioner Dr Farrukh Naveed has issued one-month long detention order of the man who threw ink on the face of Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Khwaja Asif during his address to the PML-N workers on March 10.

In the detention order, Dr Farrukh Naveed noted that Fayyaz Rasul, a resident of Muzaffarpur, had been promoting hate sentiment and creating law and order situation. “His provocative speeches on various occasions jeopardised religious harmony and peaceful atmosphere of the area. It is a violation of the provisions of the Maintenance of Public Order.” And, according to the order, he was likely to further disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the area.

“Such activities are required to be stopped in the supreme interest of law and order, public peace and religious harmony.” The detention order has been issued under section 3 of the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance 1960.

LAND RETRIEVED: Officials retrieved 62-kanal state land from illegal occupants in Sambrial on Tuesday.

Assistant Commissioner Tauqeer Ilyas Cheema said some people had illegally occupied the state land worth Rs250 million for the last several years. He said officials of the departments concerned cracked down on the mafia and retrieved the land.
