CHITRAL: A number of omissions were reported during the anti-polio campaign held last month in Chitral district which included incoherent route maps, absence of polio teams in many areas and improper method used for door marking.

The shortcomings of the campaign were discussed during a meeting of the district polio eradication committee here on Thursday with deputy commissioner Irshad Sodhar in the chair. It also reviewed preparations for the three-day national immunisation campaign starting from March 12.

District health officer Dr Israrullah and EPI coordinator Dr Fayaz Roomi briefed the meeting about preparations for the campaign, while the union councils of Charun, Broze, Terich, Yarkhun and Mulkhow showing low efficiency in the last campaign were also discussed for better results next time.

The participants decided to hold trainings and meetings for sharing the micro-plan for the upcoming campaign for the area heads and union council monitoring officers.

Mr Sodhar said that keeping in view importance of the campaign, no officer or official of the health or other government department would be spared if found negligent during the campaign.

He also asked the team leaders to share photos of their visits on the official WhatsApp on the same day, which would reflect their performance. He directed for deduction of salaries of a number of officials of health department who failed to attend the meeting of the district polio eradication committee.
