Saad Rafique serves Rs5bn defamation notice to PTI's Fawad Chaudhry

Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has sent a defamation notice of Rs5 billion to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry for allegedly levelling false allegations against him.

Saad Rafique, in a statement on Sunday, demanded an unconditional apology from Chaudhry over his statements where he had reportedly hurled "baseless" allegations regarding Rafique's position and role in the Paragon Housing Society.

Earlier on Thursday, Fawad Chaudhry had alleged that Saad Rafique was the owner of Paragon Housing Society. The PTI leader had further claimed that the minister for railways was a member of the land mafia, "who had deprived common people of their property".

Through the legal notice, the minister demanded that Chaudhry should either prove the allegations or tender apology publicly within 14 days; and in case of his failure to do so, legal proceedings would be initiated against him.

Saad Rafique, in the notice, stated that the Constitution allowed every person to protect his sanctity and that "no one should level baseless allegations against anyone".

Every politician should exercise care and restraints before maligning each other.After all politicians are part of a family as each has to be a part of treasury bench or on opposition cadre. I request Fawad Chaudhry to unconditionally tender apology, and in future don't malign Saad Rafique. Such extravaganza or vandalism as today seem amongst political parties is unwarranted and uncalled for, all legislators must solve their issues and rights in house, not on streets,or unnecessary invoking courts in political score settings. Let Pak go forward in unison not in disputes.

I ask Saad Rafique give full accountability of your assests and how you became billionaire within a few years. If you nothing to hide then provide evidence of your wealth and source of income, tax paid and record of your properties and bank balance, etc.

Really, such an 'honourable' law abiding, honest, hardworking, patriotic leader got insulted by a PTI leaders? May be federal government should compensate this 'honest' fellow with ten million dollars cash for all the emotional distress he suffered?

I fully agree with Mr. Saad that baseless allegations must be curtailed at any cost and culprit must be taken to task. If allegations are correct then Mr. Saad must face the music. Lets see how courts behave to snub this attitude of allegations by so called national leaders. They (political leaders) hide the facts behind smoke screen and always crying foul even it is correct, to grind their own axes. We Pak citizens are always mislead by lies of these so called leaders of the nation.
