TIMERGARA: The Awami National Party district councillors during the ongoing session on Saturday stood in the Lower Dir district council and condemned the alleged attack on Mardan district nazim office by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl workers in which belongings of the office were damaged.

In reaction, the PTI councillors also stood and the house witnessed rumpus for over an hour. Members from both the sides levelled allegations against each other. The session was held with convener Abdul Rashid in the chair.

Later, the situation was calmed down by some treasury members and the council unanimously passed a resolution against the attack on the office of Mardan district nazim Himayatullah Mayar.

Deputy commissioner Sarmad Saleem, DHO Dr Shaukat Ali and other heads of government departments also attended the session.

Unanimous resolution condemns the act

The ANP district councillors Asif Aziz, Mukhtiar Khan and others wanted to condemn the Mardan incident, but PTI councillors Aziz Sarhindi and others did not let them to speak.

JI councillors Maulana Imran and Saiful Islam and PML-N’s Azhar Taqweem and others criticised the election commission for not setting up separate polling stations for women in the recent local government re-polling in the district.

They demanded of the ECP to take notice of the matter and establish separate polling stations for women in future.

The deputy commissioner while speaking on the occasion said all the government departments were answerable to the district council. He said it was the collective responsibility of politicians, district administration and civil society to make efforts for development of the area.

WORKSHOP: A two-day training workshop for fertiliser dealers and their representatives concluded here on Thursday. Agriculture extension wing, Lower Dir, had arranged the workshop wherein the deputy commissioner was chief guest who also awarded certificates to the participants.

District director agriculture Murad Ali and other officers imparted training on chemical fertilizers, their properties and proper application.
