KARACHI: Askari Alphas and Neighbourhood Club kept their winning run intact registering second consecutive victories in the Kashmir Day basketball tournament at the Arambagh floodlit court on Wednesday.

Askari Alphas chalked up an emphatic 53-36 victory over Munawwar Abbasi Club after enjoying 23-12 lead at half time.

With the exception of fourth and last quarter, the winners have an edge over their opponents. Munawwar Abbasi Club, a blend of youth, fought back to held their strong opponents to 16-all in the last quarter but it was too late.

The trio of Samie 13, Samran 11 and Usama 11 turned out to be outstanding for the winners.

Usman was the only player from the losers to finish in double figures with 10. He was supported by Hassan eight and Faheem six.

It is pertinent to mention that Askari Alphas defeated Malir Trojans in their group B opener.

In another match, Neighbourhood Club carved out 29-15 victory over National Club in a low scoring lacklusture group A match.

It is pertinent to mention Neighbourhood Club had survived a scare at the hands of newly raised Omegas Club in their first clash. Hamza and Hammad N. D. Khan steered their team to success scoring 10 and nine respectively. Omer scored eight for the losers.
