ISLAMABAD: A large number of civil society activists on Wednesday gathered outside the National Press Club to protest the Kasur incident, in which an eight-year old girl named Zainab was raped and killed.

Participants were holding placards and banners seeking concrete steps to stop such incidents in the future.

The civil society members said in the past too Kasur was in the news for such incidents in which children were not only assaulted but their videos were also made.

However, the police at time too did not take any action against the culprits.

This time too they failed to take action as they were informed about the missing child almost four days ago but they did not move to recover her.

A participant Ishtiaq Gillani demanded immediate action against the person responsible and the police officers who failed to bring the culprits to justice.

“Moreover, concrete steps should be taken to stop such incidents in the future,” he said.
