PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed early award of contracts for putting mosques throughout the province on solar power. The CM issued the directives while presiding over a meeting on the project of electrifying mosques through solar power at the Chief Minister Secretariat, according to a statement issued here on Tuesday.

Secretary energy Engr Mohammad Naeem briefed the chief minister about the process of putting mosques on solar power. He was informed that the process of awarding contract would be completed by the end of January and the project would be completed by the end of May.

Mr Khattak directed the relevant officials to share the timelines with the head of Strategic Support Unit, Sahibzada Saeed, and his principle secretary. He also ordered strict monitoring of the project’s implementation so that the mosques would have an alternative arrangement for electricity if loadshedding continued in the coming summer season.
