Cyber crime unit

Published November 21, 2017

THE setting up of a cyber crime unit in the Federal Investigation Agency is a good measure. However, the government should direct the FIA to set up CCUs at least at the divisional level if not at the district level.

The social media today has become a tool of choice for inter-action. This facility is also misused to defame and harass individuals, leading to conflict and violence. It is the need of the time to forbid unethical and abusive practices on the social media.

The procedure of lodging complaints should also be allowed in national and major regional languages. If the FIA finds itself overburdened, the government should give thought to creating CCUs in the provincial police set-ups in the special branch or the district intelligence branch of the respective police departments.
