LAHORE: Artema Medical and Dewa’s Own won the opening day matches of the Treet Polo Cup, which started at the Lahore Polo Club here on Tuesday.

In the thrilling encounter six goals by Raja Arslan Najeeb and a half-goal handicap proved vitals to inspire Artema edge past BBJ Pipes 9 ½-9.

Besides Arslan, the other scorers for the winners were Omar Asjad Malhi, Daniyal Sheikh and Mir Huzaifa Ahmed, who contributed one goal each.

BBJ Pipes players also played brilliant polo and slammed nine goals but only half-a-goal handicap advantage became the main hurdle between them and victory. Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana’s brilliant performance of scoring eight eclipsed. Abdul Rehman Monnoo added one goal for the losers.

Double hat-trick by Saqib Khan Khakwani helped Dewa’s Own to outclass last tournament winners Terra Energy 8-2½. Emran Akhtar and Mumtaz Abbas Niazi also contributed one goal apiece.

Terra Energy, playing with half-a-goal handicap, scored two through Frasat Ali Chatha and Ahmed Bilal Riaz.

Wednesday’s matches are as follows: Remington Polo vs Dawood Group, and Black Horse Paints vs Guard Group.
