RAWALPINDI: A three-day Regional Food Festival kicked off at the Pearl Continental hotel on Friday by showcasing signature dishes from all four provinces.

The festival was attended by diplomats and twin cities residents. Farah Rani from the All Pakistan-China Friendship Association inaugurated the festival.

Traditional dishes from across the country were displayed at various stalls, and seating areas were decorated to represent the traditions of all four provinces. In addition to the culinary offerings, live music and an animal circus were also a part of the festival.

The Punjab stall offered lassi and saag and makai ki roti, while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stall offered chapli kebab and mutton and beef barbeque.

The Sindh stall offered biryani and haleem, while sajji and dum pukht were sold at the Balochistan stall.

Various kinds of salads, suji ka halwa, panjeeri and other items were sold at other stalls, while fruits from all four provinces were also on offer.

“This festival presents the culture and cuisines of all the regions of our country, portraying authentic rituals and giving the world a message of peace and festivity,” said an official from the hotel.

She said the Regional Food Festival aimed to bid farewell to the summer and welcome the winter season by showcasing various cuisines for local residents.

The enthusiastic response from twin cities’ residents showed that they were interested in food, culture and tradition and wished to preserve them, she added.
