Imran Khan urges Trump to talk to Taliban

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday said the United States (US) should stop trying to destroy the Taliban and instead talk to them with help from Pakistan.

In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press today, Khan rejected US President Donald Trump's allegation that Pakistan harbours militants.

He said Pakistanis "felt hurt" when Trump blamed Islamabad for sheltering militants while unveiling the US strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia in August.

He claimed that the Taliban have safe havens in Afghanistan and that Pakistan is being subjected to the group's attacks launched from Afghan soil.

US officials have long said that Pakistan turns a blind eye to militants operating along the porous Afghan border.

Imran is always in favor of talking to terrorists. Taking to terrorists (good or bad) will never solve any problem. The only permanent solution is eliminating them completely. The process may take time but this is the only solution.

Why doesn't IK pick up the phone and make the phone call or make a conference call between him Trump and Taliban. Making statements to feed social media is not going to help. Actions speak louder than words.

Let's be clear: There is NO military solution to Afghanistan. Taliban aren't fro Mars, they too are from Afghanistan. It's a matter of record that the Taliban tried to surrender and negotiate their return to Afghan politics on various occasions during the past 16 years, only to be disappointed or "droned" by the US and it's stooges in Kabul. It's plenty clear by now that the US doesn't want an end to this conflict, and neither do its puppets in Kabul.
