KARACHI: A man was shot dead by armed robbers when he resisted near the Superhighway in the early hours of Sunday morning, officials said.

Malir SSP Rao Anwar Ahmed said that Hassan Mujtaba with his family was heading home in Gulshan-i-Iqbal from Gulshan-i-Maymar when two robbers riding a motorcycle chased and intercepted him.

They shot him when he put up resistance, he said, adding that the victim died on the spot. He was travelling with his wife, children and his mother.

The motorbike of the fleeing robbers slipped on road and they abandoned the two-wheelers and escaped. The police impounded the bike and found later that it was not snatched or stolen.

The victim’s wife is said to be a senior official of Suparco.
