A man lost his life as a fire broke out following a blast at a cosmetic factory's chemical storage facility off Shahrah-e-Faisal, police said on Wednesday.

Factory employee Salman Sarwar died due to severe burn injuries, while two other staff members received minor burns, a spokesperson from Civil Hospital's burn ward told DawnNews.

While the bomb disposal squad dispatched to the site claims that the explosion was not the result of any terrorist activity, however, a factory's manager told DawnNews that he fears explosives were planted in the storage facility.

A caller to Emergency-15 had initially termed the situation as a building collapse. However, upon investigation, Sub-Inspector Police Shahzada Saleem confirmed that the explosion had occurred at a chemical storage facility resulting in the collapse of a nearby school, police said.
