Huawei overtakes Apple to become second most popular smartphone manufacturer in the world

China's Huawei overtook Apple as the second most popular smartphone manufacturer in the world in global unit sales in June-July 2017, The Verge reported.

It is second only to Samsung, and an analysis by Counterpoint Research claims its surge in sales is due to consistent investment in research and development and manufacturing, as well as aggressive and creative marketing techniques.

However, the data shows that Huawei still has a weak presence in South Asian and North American markets which "limits Huawei's potential to the near-to-mid-term to take a sustainable second place position behind Samsung," according to Counterpoint Research.

The smartphone manufacturer is most popular in China, followed by Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, The Verge quoted Counterpoint Research as saying.

With the release of the new iPhone just around the corner, however, it is expected that Apple will reclaim the second spot on global sales rankings in September.

I am not surprised about the market change, as the Apple phone are far too expensive and, in my opinion, do not present value for money. It's a status symbol. There are many good android phones which provides good value for money, and in this respect Chinese companies like Huawei, Oppo, Xiami and ZTE are now doing well and capturing saturated smartphone markets in Europe, US and Asia and likely to take over Samasung in the future.

Apple' i phone is a class apart. No other phone is comparable to it. An Andrid phone is like an omnibus on which all and sundry travel. An i phone on the other hand is is like a luxurious plane which is affordable by only some. I could have quoted other examples.

@Anti-Corruption_Pakistani These makers shall never overtake Samsung because in features and quality to price comparison, the Samsung far outstrips other makers also, parts like screens, cameras, panels, chips are made by Samsung so, it is highly unlikely Samsung being overtaken by the Chinese makers.
