ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information Technology Anusha Rahman on Wednesday said that the government’s topmost priority was to strengthen and enhance outreach of social safety nets to the poor.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of a computer lab at the Women Empowerment Centre (WEC) of Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM), she said that PBM’s role in assisting vulnerable segments for economic uplift and social prosperity was commendable.

Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Managing Director of PBM Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh and CEO Universal Service Fund, Harris Chaudhry, attended the ceremony.

Ms Rahman said that provision of information technology labs would enable young girls at PBM centres to meet challenges of the modern world besides honing their skills which would empower them economically.
