KCCA announces U-19 team

KARACHI, Aug 16: The Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA), while obeying the orders of Sindh High Court maintaining the status quo, has adopted the 22 names announced by Pakistan Cricket Board selectors for Karachi team and according to 13 (g) of PCB circular dated Aug 9, 2003, has named the squad for the opening match of the PCB Inter-region U-19 cricket tournament.

Following the instructions given in the PCB circular of the above-mentioned date that the KCCA announced the following team:

Naveed Khan (captain), Khurram Manzoor, Faraz Patel, Waqas Haroon, Fawwad Alam, Fazal Mohammad Khan, Tabish Khan, Sharif Asadullah, Mohammad Ali Zafar, Asif Hameed, Mohammad Fahim, Noman Alvi, Fahad Iqbal, Saeed Khan and Daniyal Ahsan. Officials: Tousif Siddiqui (manager), Aftab Ahmed (associate manager) and Zafar Ahmed (coach).

KCCA in their application has prayed to the court to restrain the defendants (PCB and Sindh Cricket Association), their agents, servants, persons acting in their name and on their behalf, from taking over or running the affairs of the plaintiff through Sindh Cricket Association or any other body, dispossessing the plaintiff from its office at National Stadium Karachi, selecting cricket team for Karachi region under-19 or any other cricket team for Karachi, organizing One-day International matches or Tests in Karachi through Sindh Cricket Association or any other body except the plaintiff and taking any adverse or coercive action against the plaintiff or interfering with the affairs of the plaintiff in any manner whatsoever other than by due process of law, pending final disposal of the instant suit.

The court had already granted ad-interim orders on Tuesday (Aug 12) restraining the defendants from dispossessing KCCA from its office at NSK.

The court had ordered status quo to be maintained by the parties till the next hearing on Aug 28 on the application filed by KCCA against PCB and SCA in the first hearing held on Aug 15, 2003, before Mr Justice Ata-ur-Rehman.
