LAHORE: Loadshedding for hours in addition to brownouts and other issues continued to haunt the power consumers in Lahore and adjoining districts. Officials of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) said that there was no forced load shedding in Lahore on Friday.

“The forced loadshedding in addition to the scheduled one was only done in the semi-urban and rural areas of Sheikhupura and the areas other than the Lahore city, and it occurred due to various technical constraints with the NTDC’s system,” said the official.

“Though the constraints with the distribution system were being tackled well, those generated in the NTDC system cannot be handled (by Lesco).”

He said Lesco teams worked day and night and separated the industrial load from the main bus-wire of the Attabad grid station and shifted it to the Kala Shah Kaku grid station. This would ease the power supply situation for domestic as well as industrial consumers, he said.

The official said the brownouts were due to the overloaded system, such as old transformers, cables, capacitors etc.
