SWABI: Frequent theft cases in the district headquarters hospital here have perturbed the doctors and other medical staff of the hospital.

In this regard, Pakistan Doctors Association’s district president and other office-bearers held a meeting with Swabi deputy commissioner Motasim Billah and apprised him of the increasing feeling of insecurity among the employees.

Talking to mediapersons on Thursday, they said that a well-organised group of thieves had been involved in theft cases. They said that the police should immediately trace those disturbing atmosphere of the hospital.

They said that it was responsibility of the government, especially the district administration, to provide security to the hospital employees, located near the city police station.

They said that driver Faqir Mohammad had been deprived of Rs70,000 when unidentified thieves entered his house on the hospital premises the other night. The thieves had also removed the CCTV camera from the house of a senior surgeon.

Similarly, Mohammad Quraish, a watchman at the hospital, had been deprived of Rs38,000 and the house of dispenser Mohammad Illyas was also looted.

They said that the hospital staff demanded of the district administration to take steps for recovery of the looted things and cash and work for checking the theft incidents at the hospital. The DC assured the hospital staff of action to trace the robbers.

RAIN RESPITE: Heavy rain accompanied with strong winds on Wednesday night brought respite to the people from suffocating heat.

The rain and winds, however, caused damage to the standing tobacco, maize and sugarcane crop and uprooted numerous trees in the district. A senior official of the district administration told this correspondent that an emergency team had been sent to clear the roads as soon as possible.

When contacted, Pesco officials said that power supply was suspended in some areas due to strong winds which disturbed the transmission line. Residents of a few localities said that power supply was yet to be restored.
