Dirty beach

Published July 24, 2017

ALTHOUGH Karachiites visit Clifton beach in front of Seaview apartments in the thousands, specially during the summers, as it is most probably the only cool place in Karachi. However, the indifferent attitude of Defence Housing Authority and Cantonment Board Cliftont (CBC) has made it the dirtiest beach on earth.

The CBC has erected innumerable ugly gates so as to control parking. I ask where there are no gates, don’t people pay parking charges. The gates have made the place look most ugly. In addition, countless pushcarts have been given permission to do business like you find in front of Empress Market. Their owners also carry their beddings on them so that they can sleep there.

Many discarded electric poles line the dilapidated pavement. They are highly dangerous as they are corroding fast and are likely to cave in and fall on unsuspecting people. Broken benches and tables abound the beach.
