An Afghan national was taken into custody on Friday from the Islamabad airport after airport officials said they had discovered 23 passports from his person.

The individual, Azeemullah, was intercepted when he was about to board Kabul-bound flight RQ-217.

Airport officials told DawnNews that the suspect was taken into custody after an intelligence agency pointed him out.

Officials further said that out of the seized passports, 22 passports belonged to Afghan government officials and one to an Afghan civilian. All passports were stamped with Japanese visas.

The suspect has been handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency for further investigation.
