ISLAMABAD: Secretariat police early on Sunday morning raided a hotel in G-5 and arrested 50 people at a party.

An FIR was registered under sections of the amplifier and anti-smoking acts, as well as Pakistan Penal Code sections 294 (obscene acts and songs) and 109 (abetment).

According to the FIR, which is available with Dawn, the police received a complaint that a ‘party’ was being organised at the hotel.

The police, in the presence of a magistrate, raided the hotel and arrested 50 people, and the hotel manager was also nominated in the FIR for permitting the event and for legal violations.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Sattar Isani told Dawn that citizens had complained about the event, leading to the raid and the arrests.

A police official also said that in addition to violating the amplifier act, people were also smoking sheesha and tobacco, which is not permitted in public places.
