DADU: An inter-provincial gang of motorcycle thieves and carjackers was busted in a raid at Aliwal village in Mehar taluka on Wednesday, police officials said.

A team of district police led by SSP Dadu Shabbir Ahmed Sethar raided the village and arrested members of the inter-provincial gang involved in snatching motorcycles and vehicles in various areas of the country.

Those arrested included Asad Hassan, a resident of Karachi, Jumoo Brohi of Khuzdar, Ali Gul Khoso of Qambar-Shahdadkot, and their accomplices Pandhi Khoso, Jamal Deepar and Mukhtiar Rind.

The SSP said the suspects were arrested after an encounter. He said the police seized 10 motorcycles and five guns from them.

Young man drowns

An 18-year-old man drowned in the Nai Gaaj Nullah at Zero Point, some 64km from Dadu city, on Wednesday.

Adeel Memon was having a picnic with friends and was swimming in the drain but he drowned as soon as he went into deep water. His body was retrieved by local people and taken to his native town on Sita Road.
