TAXILA: The Hazro Police on Friday claimed to have busted two robbers gangs operating in the area and arrested their nine members.

Talking to newsmen here on Friday, District Police officer (DPO) Attock Zahid Nawaz Marwat said a team of Hazro Police station and Rangoo Police station led by sub divisional police officer DSP Raja Fayyaz Ul Haq has busted two different gangs who were on rampage.

While unveiling the details, he said that first gang identified as Afghani group wanted in robberies was busted and as many as five members were arrested.

The other gang, identified as Ali gang, was involved in robberies and car snatching and police have arrested four of its members.

He said the looted booty worth Rs1.80 million and illegal weapons utilised by the gang in different crimes were also recovered.

The DPO revealed that the Hazro police had solved two murder cases.

Separately, city traffic police, Taxila circle have impounded 12 motorcycles modified for wheelie.

Meanwhile, in Islamabad, Sabzi Mandi police have arrested five robbers wanted by the police in 20 cases and recovered gold ornaments, cash, foreign currency and weapons from them, a police spokesman said.

In response to a number of complaints, SSP Sajid Kiani set up a team which succeeded in busting the gang.

Police recovered looted gold ornaments, Rs200,000 in cash, Chinese currency and eight pistols along with ammunition from them.
