Imran, Yasir inspire Tapal to third straight victory

KARACHI: Spinners Imran Ali and Yasir Hussain shared eight wickets between them while inspiring Tapal CC to an emphatic victory against Advance Tel­e­com in 30th Aga Khan Gym­khana Ramazan Cricket Festival clash at the AKG Ground here on Thursday.

Opting to bat to bat first, Advance Telecom were all out for 167 in 19.5 overs des­pite ex-Pakistan opener Muk­­h­tar Ahmed bludgeoning 69 off 34 balls with five fours and five sixes. Salman Afridi made 44 off 34 balls with five fours and two sixes as he assisted Mukhtar in a fourth-wicket partnership of 103.

Slow left-armer Imran grabbed four wickets for 19 runs to claim the man-of-the-award prize while off-spinner Yasir captured 4-29 with seam-bowling all-rounder Babar Rehman taking 2-28.

Tapal CC reached their target of 168 in 17 overs while losing only two wickets. Hafiz Asad Baig anchored the chase with an unbeaten 69 from 42 deliveries. His effort included five fours and two sixes after opener Nadeem Javed blasted 58 off just 34 balls with four fours and six sixes; Daniyal Ahsan remained unbeaten 27 off 18 balls.

It was Tapal CC’s third successive win in Group ‘C
