LAHORE: Provincial Minorities and Human Rights Minister Khalil Tahir Sandhu has said the solution to all domestic problems is possible only through educating women and setting up of women resource centres will be a milestone in this regard.

A handout issued on Wednesday quoted the minister as saying that he was thankful to the Australian government for playing an important role in building a centre at Kinnaird College for Women. He hoped that such centres would be established in south Punjab very soon.

The minister expressed these views while inaugurating the Women Resource Centre along with Australian High Commissioner Margaret Thomson at the college. MPA Kanji Ram, Kinnaird College Principal Rukhsana David, Vice Principal Dr Nighat Khan, Formation, Awareness, and Community Empowerment Society Pakistan President Javaid William were also present.

Ms. Thomson said that it was a great honour to be a part of this initiative. She said that the Australian government was keen to strengthen relations with Pakistan and such initiatives will be helpful for the best future between both countries.

Mr Sandhu while addressing the media said that he was hopeful that these centres would help women belonging to under-developed areas such as south Punjab. Scholarships and short-term courses were also part of this centre which could bring real change in society.
