LAHORE, Jan 3: A sparkling 90 by opener Kashif Siddique helped Lahore Whites make a strong reply against Lahore Blues on the second day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-I match at LCCA Ground Thursday.
At close of play, Lahore Whites were 232 for five in their first innings in reply to the Blues’ 395 for eight declared. The Whites lost Tariq Mahmood to the last ball of the day when he was caught behind off former Test spinner Mohammad Hussain.
Kashif, who struck 11 fours and four sixes during his 83-ball innings, dominated the first wicket partnership of 123 with Aamir Sajjad. The stand lasted just 86 minutes.
Aamir Sajjad contributed 51 with seven fours off 107 balls while Shahnawaz made an excellent first-class debut by making 51 after claiming two for 60.
Earlier, Imran Farhat added 32 to his Wednesday’s 103 after the Blues had resumed at 220 for three.
Zia-ur-Rehman, who resumed at 28, went for 59.
Sohail Idrees hit 58 with nine boundaries while Hussain helped himself to 35.
Play on the second day got under way after a 75-minute delay because of poor light.
