RAWALPINDI: Four men convicted of heinous offences relating to terrorism, including killing civilians, attacking personnel of law enforcement agencies and destroying educational institutions, were executed in a prison in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), all the four belonged to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and were tried by military courts that handed down death sentences to them.

Those hanged were: Ahmed Ali, son of Bakht Karam; Asghar Khan, son of Aziz-ur-Rehman; Haroon-ur-Rasheed, son of Mian Said Usman; and Gul Rehman, son of Zareen.

All the four were involved in terrorist attacks that resulted in the death of and injuries to civilians as well as armed forces personnel, according to ISPR.

All of them admitted to having committed the crimes they were charged with, both before magistrates and in the trial courts.
