“I opened this library in the 1980s, almost 37 years ago. I have an interest in reading books, and since my school days I have been reading all sorts of books. I have a degree in economics and am working in a government department, but books are my hobby so I have kept this passion alive for many years. I have always felt that there is no life without books as they are source of history, knowledge and respect.

In the old times there were several such small libraries in Rawalpindi, but just one or two remain. There are just a few regular customers who borrow books from me. I think a major reason the new generation isn’t attracted to books is the use of mobile phones and the Internet. The prices of books have already increased, so it is hard for an average citizen to afford books. But I am doing what I can for book lovers. I am happy that my children have developed an interest in reading books.”
