Imran Khan meets army chief Gen Bajwa

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday met Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa and congratulated the army chief on his promotion and appointment, said a tweet from the Inter-Services Public Relations.

The military's media wing also said that "various issues came under discussion".

The hour-long meeting focused on national integrity and security, said PTI's media cell. Discussion were also held on conditions prevailing in the region.

The army chief and the PTI chairman also discussed repatriation of Afghan refugees and the recent wave of terror attacks, added the political party's media cell.

No further details about the visit were provided by ISPR.

General Bajwa was promoted on November 29, 2016. Khan's congratulatory visit comes almost four months after the appointment of the new army chief.

Totally uncalled for. This will inevitably give rise to speculations cause ISPR will never elaborate on issues discussed whereas media pundits will keep giving it meanings of their choice and IK will exploit it.

The way our justice system is performing I am thinking what happened if Imran Khan wasn't there? All looters are at large or set free. IK is the real opposition and a clean politician. And because of him these corrupt so called leaders have to perform a little. Although they still get big loot out of their favorite developement projects. Every time they start their mimic warfares and say one another corrupt, I believe this drama is to cause a grave damage to Pakistan. May God help us and have mercy on us. But how will He help us if we don't want to help ourselves and have mercy on us?

I think politicians and military leadership of Pakistan should meet frequently on issues of national and international importance. I am sure meeting between Imran and Gen. Bajwa provided both sides an opportunity to understand each others point of view. And that is what other political leaders should do to meet, greet and discuss national issues... innuendo, lies and mis-information will then be eliminated. For national confidence building all segment of Pakistani leadership must be on one page and that is a sign of a strong and forward moving Nation. Political promises and slogans are thing of the past !

Good that IK met General Bajwa. Being the leader of the second largest party of Pakistan it is his right to meet COAS. The best part is both ISPR and PTI have told everyone they met because it is nothing wrong. IK had been busy in Panama Leaks all along so did not have time earlier. General Bajwa too must have been very busy in the initial few months. Good luck IK and General Bajwa.

A very pleasant development, Imran Khan is also a major stakeholder in Pakistan politics. Just recently COAS has declared nobody is above law, and Pakistan interest is paramount.People of Pakistan have high respect for judiciary and armed forces,and are therefore highly optimistic about future of our great nation. Just a spigot to corruption,and good governance is needed,that can be done by autonomous institutions with full backing of courts, like suo moto actions on unabated corruption,and writ of law must be established strictly.
