Instead of enmity with India if trade can happen then remember you have access to a huge market of the largest middle class with immense buying power. Companies of Nepal and Bangladesh are now manufacturing their product in India and are benefiting immensely from Indian market. China is smart. Pakistan should enforce a two-child policy just like China. From 40 million in 1947, there are 200 million residing in Pakistan today. Umm, its a decent system, but its still SARH. Why didn't the army go for the ARH version of LY10, namely DK10? I can understand the cash crunch would have limited the buy to DK10 and not the latest Sky dragon version but why LY10? Is it to maintain commonality in platform with the naval LY10's already with PN?

@Farhan. This is a variant of the Russian Buk system. India already operates it and several other advanced variants. India also possesses S-400 and in in the process of developing and adapting an indigenously developed BMD. So you are mistaken in that these systems are not for sale.

Considering India landmass to be 3.6 times more than Pakistan and it's population about 6.5 times more than Pakistan. Just to add India shows GB Pakistan, AJK Pakistan and Aksai Chin(China) in their landmass which is not correct....that makes India 130000 sq.km less in area as shown in the India maps...

Read Jane's defense journal. This is only partially effective against low flying slow aircraft or helicopters. An SU-30 MKI armed with BRAHMOS will take it out in a minute.

Had it trusted its defence systems to that extent then would have implemented its own than buying from russia. Also, selling cheap defence systems to other countries will make China earn money (Pure business). Keep buying their stuff. Thumbs Up.

we dont need an S400 system. We need to have enough capability for India to think twice before any mis adventure. This will give us minimum deterrent to inflict a costly damage to Indian Airforce. Besides India, there is no other country in the world from whom we have an existential aerial threat. That's why we do not need S400, Patriot, Thaad like systems. Hope this explains.

@Common Sense-Here is the reason why Pakistan cannot acquire any Long Range SAM whether it's S400 or THAAD.Because to qualify for a sale of any missile with 300km or above range both the parties(seller and buyer) should be signatories of MTCR.Even though China is actively trying to be a member of MTCR the recent sale of S400 systems to China didn't include any missiles hence China is still working on compatible missiles.India being the latest member of MTCR has eligibility to acquire S400(acquisition will be finalized this year) and even increased the range of Brahmos from 290km to 450km.Pakistan has an option of buying HQ9(since China is not a member yet) but the same HQ9(a Chinese version of Russian S300) was rejected by Turkey,Uzbekistan,Tajikistan etc. Citing it's inefficiencies.

@Zealot the SU400 will cont come to Indian Arsenal before 2019 and it can further delay as well and as far as I know that thing is not being put on sale. In Goa Russian representatives said that they can offer SU400 to their allies like China, India. On the other hand LY-80 is inducted in our Arsenal.

Our priority must be the PEOPLE of Pakistan which is national interest #1. Consider; 84% citizens in the country have no access to clean water; 44% of our children (next generation) is out of school because there are not enough schools and teachers. What to speak of the quality of education! (Read Dawn articles about these matters) My plea to the government is to prioritize clean water, education and basic healthcare over any other expenses. Great nations are built on education, knowledge, welfare, economics and not on possession of weapons.

Great move by Pak Armed forces. The LY-80 system has a specific task to deal with low to medium level air threats including drones, missiles and aircraft. Father acquisitions are in negotiations stage for high altitude Sam system that will allow PAF to maintain an aggressive posture should the need arise. Our military planners make good choices with weapons systems, I have faith in them.

@Common Sense LY-80 has a different job to s300/s400SAM system. LY-80 is a low to medium altitude Sam system designed to target fly flying aircraft, drones and missiles. s300/s400SAM system is designed to target awacs, fighter jets, ballistic, cruise missiles and high altitude drones.

@Facts I was amused reading your comments. Suggest you try to understand that s300/s400SAM system is long range and targets different targets. LY80 is short to medium range missile..again for a different targets. Even your India has similar systems otherwise it would scrap them and buy s400SAM due to its incredible wealth and power :)
