TOBA TEK SINGH: A man charged with killing his two minor sons and injuring another, along with his wife, was on Wednesday handed down death sentence on two counts, 29-year imprisonment and Rs1,040,000 fine by the Gojra additional district and sessions judge.

AD&SJ Muhammad Bilal handed down the punishment to 55-year-old Wilayat Ullah Jat.

According to prosecution, the convict had slaughtered his two sons and injured another son and wife at Chak 332 JB, Dhunni Pura village in Gojra tehsil on May 3, 2016.

The convict had killed the minors, Haider Ali (9) and Saqlain Ali (7) with a sharp knife when they were asleep. Then, he attacked his third son Ali Hasan (12) and wife Shakila Bibi, leaving them critically injured.

Jat’s minor daughter, four-year-old Kainat Perveen, had escaped the attack as she ran out of the house into street.

The convict was later overpowered by his brothers and some locals, who handed him over to police.

Wilayat Ullah was said to be mentally upset for the last few years after developing differences with his wife.
