QUETTA: Three army personnel, including a captain, were killed and two others injured in a bomb attack in the Korak Dolag area of Jhao tehsil in Awa­ran district on Thursday.

Official sources said that a convoy of army personnel was passing through the area when an improvised explosive device placed on the roadside went off.

A captain and two army men died, according to a statement of the Inter-Services Public Relations. The deceased were identified as Captain Taha and Sepoys Karman Satti and Mehtar Jan.

The sources said that their vehicle was badly damaged.

The injured, identified as Sepoys Amanullah and Ashiq, were shifted to a nearby health facility.

Balochistan Governor Mohammad Khan Achak­zai, Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri and Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti condemned the attack.

In separate statements, they termed the incident a cowardly attack and said that the elements involved would be taken to task.
