KARACHI: The Sindh government has not taken any decision to stop the Karachi operation and a couple of days’ delay in giving an extension to the Rangers’ special policing powers in Karachi should not be misinterpreted; everyone is in favour of giving them powers because the Rangers have eliminated the sense of fear and terrorism in Karachi.

This was stated by Sindh Senior Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Nisar Ahmad Khuhro in response to a question at the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday, where he addressed a press conference along with Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Shamim Mumtaz.

Responding to another question, he said no decision had been made public regarding Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians chief Asif Ali Zardari’s not contesting by-election from Nawabshah.

Ms Mumtaz said her department had recovered seven children of Karachi from Punjab who had gotten ‘lost’.

She said the parents of the children had been sent to Lahore to ascertain the children’s identity.

She said the Sindh government was working to set up a shelter home for runaway children.

She added that information regarding missing children be conveyed to phone number ‘112’ to alert the department.
