Plea for justice

Published December 11, 2016

I SERVED for 20 years, starting from the post of assistant director in 1978 to director in 1998 in the Federal Bank for Co-operatives ( a subsidiary of the State Bank of Pakistan). In 1998 a case against me and another subordinate officer was registered with FIA. The bank was dissolved by the government in 2002. At the time eight more cases were initiated and three more officers were involved. The officers’ liquidator obtained a decree against my house in 2008 and got the house auctioned for Rs2.5m.

The special court for banking offences acquitted the four co-accused in 2009. These officers were paid their dues and emoluments up to Rs3.5 million each by the liquidator Federal Bank in 2009. Now, finally the same special court also honourably acquitted me in all the cases on Sept 24 last.

I am also entitled to be treated at par with the other four accused and my salary dues, GP Fund, Benevolent Fund, etc, plus sale proceeds of my house be paid to me.

For the last three months I have been running from pillar to post, ending up in blind alleys, getting the same reply that the Federal Bank has been dissolved, and nothing could be done.

I request the State Bank of Pakistan to guide me.

Merging for what?

Merging for what?

The concern is that if the government is thinking of cutting costs through the merger, we might even lose the functionality levels we currently have.
